What is POWERBAND ?
Powerband has not looked back since it was started on a relatively small scale by Rajan Desai, a chemical engineer from IIT, Delhi, in 1994.

We have grown at an amazing compounded growth rate of 50-60 per cent . In a relatively short period, Powerband has become the largest producer of BOPP adhesive tapes in South and West Asia, with a capacity to produce 150 million sq meters per annum. We have India's first dedicated state of the art production facility for Protective films, with a capacity of 20 million sq metres per annum.

Powerband is on an expansion drive. Our new production facility will have three coating lines, and we intend to increase this to eight in the next two years, producing many kinds of specialised tapes for different applications. We are moving towards backward integration to achieve our target to become one of the lowest cost producers of Adhesive Tape Products by gradually moving into manufacturing the raw materials in a phase wise manner.
A Brief History of the Region's Largest Adhesive Tape Manufacturers
1979 Starts off as R.R. Desai & Co, manufacturing medical sutures and plastic fishnets.
1984 Shifts to PP box strappings.
1984-1994 Grows to become one of the top three manufacturers of PP strappings in India.
1994 Powerband is incorporated, with a production capacity of 5, 400, 000 sq m per annum.
1994-1999 Adhesive tape manufacturing capacity is increased to 30, 000, 000 sq m per annum.
1999 Becomes the largest BOPP adhesive tapes manufacturer in South and West Asia.
1999-2002 Production capacity enhanced to 60, 000, 000 sq m per annum.
2004 A major expansion drive begins to increase built-up area from 50, 000 sq ft to 150, 000 sq ft.
2005 Operations at the new production facility ? with a capacity to manufacture 150, 000, 000 sq m of BOPP tape per annum ? begins in July. India's first dedicated production facility for protective film also begins operations with production facility of 20 million square mt per annum.
2006-2007 Production facility of BOPP Tapes to be enhanced to 200, 000, 000 sq mt and Production of Protective Films to be enhanced to 50, 000, 000 sq mt.

Our self-adhesive tapes are used by hundreds of leading Indian companies for a variety of packaging applications. Our BOPP tapes, manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities, are strong, have superb adhesion and can withstand extremes of temperature and pressure. They have been designed to provide complete protection to packages during transit and handling. They are ideal for use in automatic packing machines. Powerband's BOPP tapes are tamper-proof and are available in a variety of colours, thickness, roll lengths and roll widths. We also manufacture custom-printed or signature tapes that can be printed with your company's logo or product name.
