Alan Northrop was started in 1949 to supply various textile accessories to the Yorkshire and Lancashire weaving industry. Over a period of time, the company began to specialise in the sale of Roller Covering strips, and today are the largest stockists of this range of products in the UK.

Continued growth came with the decision to open a manufacturing unit dedicated to the production of high quality self adhesive labels. This has seen turnover grow significantly and helped the company to move steadily forward.

A further diversification was the purchase of AH Hanson Ltd, an engineering company which specialises in the manufacture of pressings, washers and non-ferrous nails.
